It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Yesterday morning was really odd here in the UAE, at least in Dubai. In the morning there was a sandstorm, and then it rained. However, the funny part is, that half the city was submerged in a sandstorm while the other half was submerged in rain.

So if you looked west, the sky is brown and you can't see anything. If you look east, the sky is blue-ish gray and raining. It was funky.

Oh, and the last image was added there just to show off my car and its ability to go into the desert

By the by, if you did not watch Pan's Labyrinth then do so now! I blogged about it if you are interested.

- Spent the whole of Thursday at work pinning down the coordinates of the Du antennas on Google Earth
- Three of the five working days, on my back to work, I was chased by an ambulance

we are used here in Eastern Province to face same situations .. Moreover, the weather keeps changing in small duration of time so one doesn't know what to dress ..
somtimes, we face all the four seasons in one day

sandstorm ? I never really noticed.

My mom just mentioned it was raining (Rashidya) and even my friend in Abu dhabi said it was and I saw it too (I work in Jebel Ali)

Which parts were having the sandstorm? o.O

Jebel Ali was having the sandstorm

It spread to green community and up to Autodrome, but the it SUDDENLY just stops there, like it was contained by glass, and then from Barsha onwards it was raining. Very strange! Ye3ni in one moment I had the back half of my car in sand and the first half of my car in rain.

Eh, weird o_O I did not see the sandstorm at our side, only rain and clouds :shrugs:

And yeah, I remmber driving down Al Khail road once and it was the weirdest morning ever. the first few roads from my house were sunny and then suddenly you see this huge "Cloud" in the distance and you get into this super tick fog for about 15 mins and then out of no where it fades and you get into the worst sandstorm EVER

By the time I reached work, I had a nice coating of sticky wet sand
